New Satellite Liaison Blog Posts

14 March 2025 GOES-East GeoFire Imagery over Oklahoma captures numerous large wildfires (bright red/yellow), smoke plumes (gray), and blowing dust (tan).

Bill Line published three blog posts showcasing the applications of GOES and VIIRS imagery during an active weather day on March 14, 2025. The posts highlight how satellite imagery can aid in detecting and monitoring blowing dust, wildfires, and severe thunderstorms. They also include examples of how NWS offices utilized NOAA satellite imagery during the event. See Figure below. (POC: Bill Line, bill.line@noaa.gov, 970-279-1832)
