Introduction


This VISIT training session is an introduction to the Near Constant Contrast (NCC) Day/Night Band (DNB) Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi/NPP satellite as displayed in AWIPS. The imagery is introduced, along with various applications and limitations to be aware of.

This training session is based on a VISIT satellite chat from 12/18/2015, it’s a truncated version of the satellite chat. The full satellite chat may be viewed here. This training session ends at 22:12 on the satellite chat video, one may view the the satellite chat video after that time if you already viewed this training session video.
