eTCeTerra: Easy Tropical Cyclone Exploration Through Enabling Rapid Research of the Atmosphere
- eTCeTerra is a collection of Python libraries for pre-processing JPSS, TROPICS, and GFS and other LEO data for TC applications
- It is flexible, modular, and designed to be used for research projects, real-time demonstrations, and in operations
- eTCeTerra libraries can be used in standalone applications or integratedĀ (if desired) with theĀ existing satellite processing systems such as GeoIPS
- eTCeTerra major modules:
- Select ATCF, LEO, and model data around a TC
- Convert model data to the required input format, if needed
- Find overpasses for LEO satellites and TCs
- Interpolate ATCF data (Lat, Lon, Vmax, etc.) to the time of each TC-satellite overpass within a specified distance
- Select LEO data for each overpass
- Select model data for each overpass
- (optional) Regrid LEO data to storm centric cylindrical of Cartesian grid
- (optional) Regrid model data to storm centric cylindrical of Cartesian grid
- (optional) Regrid LEO sounder data to 40 vertical levels
- (optional) Regrid GFS sounding data to 40 vertical levels
- Process TC application for each overpass time, using as input storm-centric LEO and model data on the swath, Cartesian, or cylindrical grid
- eTCeTerra is used to process data for and run in real-time HISA, JET, Shear-MMS, and TROPICS applications
