Chris Slocum spoke with Newsweek science reporter Jess Thomson about why tropical cyclones do not cross the equator and differences between Northern and Southern Hemisphere tropical cyclones in a piece entitled “Why Hurricanes Don’t Cross the Equator” In the piece, Chris mentions that tropical cyclones do occur closer to the equator than we initially thought prior to complete global monitoring by geostationary satellites.
