NESDIS released a new report called the NESDIS Impacts Briefings. The briefings tell the stories behind NOAA satellites and information and feature work from NOAA satellite missions and environmental data. In the Artificial Intelligence (AI) briefing, NESDIS highlighted the Tropical Cyclone Precipitation, Infrared, Microwave, and Environmental Dataset (TC PRIMED; Razin et al. 2023). TC PRIMED is a 22-year dataset centered around satellite passive microwave observations of tropical cyclones that aims to increase the utility of satellite observations to improve our understanding and forecast of tropical cyclones. Through a project funded by the NOAA Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), NOAA STAR and CIRA researchers improved the AI-Readiness of TC PRIMED and developed a set of Python-based Learning Journey Jupyter Notebooks to guide users in using artificial intelligence approaches with TC PRIMED.
